UNMASKING GREEN-EYED MONSTER

Jealousy refers to the negative thoughts and feelings of insecurity, fear, and anxiety over an anticipated loss of something that the person values, particularly in reference to a human connection. Jealousy often consists of a combination of presenting emotions such as anger, sadness, resentment and disgust.

We tend to think of jealousy as a single emotion, but actually it is a bundle of feelings that tend to get lumped together. Jealousy can manifest itself as anger, fear, hurt, betrayal, anxiety, agitation, sadness, paranoia, depression, loneliness, envy, coveting, feeling powerless, feeling inadequate, feeling excluded, or all of the above. Feelings of jealousy always appear to stem from one's sense that something about their life is not secure, e.g., is uncertain or in danger. Jealousy is about fear-fear of the unknown, fear of change, fear of losing power or control in a relationship, fear of scarcity and of loss, and fear of abandonment.  It is a reflection of our own insecurities about our worthiness, anxiety about being adequate as a lover, and doubts about our own desirability. For every jealous feeling, there is an emotion behind it that is much more significant than the jealousy itself.

Behind jealousy there is also an unmet need or a deep fear that our needs will not be met.  Recognizing those fears and unmet needs is the key to unmasking jealousy and taking away its power.  Like a finger pointing at the fears and needs we are afraid to face, this emotion kicks in.  It is the part of our brain going into a "fight or flight" response because we feel that our very survival is being threatened.

As emotions go, jealousy is neither subtle nor kind, but it is definitely complex, encompassing feelings from fear of abandonment to rage to humiliation. It strikes both men and women when they perceive a third-party threat to a valued relationship, and that distinguishes it from envy, which involves wanting something someone else has. Conventional wisdom holds that jealousy is a necessary emotion because it preserves social bonds, but it more often destroys them. And it can give rise to relationship violence. Jealousy is a natural emotion, and one we all experience on some level.  No matter how jealous you get or what you get jealous over, learning to control it is the key to empowerment. BREAKDOWN INTO TEARS

Feeling down? Got the blues? You're not alone. Everyone gets Sad (yes, everyone you ever met). Sad feelings can happen pretty often. Sad expressions are often conceived as opposite to happy ones, but this view is too simple, although the action of the mouth corners is opposite. Sad expressions convey messages related to loss, bereavement, discomfort, pain, helplessness, etc. When you're sad, it feels like it will last forever, but usually feelings of sadness don't last very long - a few hours, or maybe a day or 2.

It's important to recognize when sadness does not go away, because this may mean there is a more serious problem, called depression. When you're sad, the world seems dark and unfriendly. You have a hurt deep inside that crushes your heart and your spirit. Many times you cry, and the tears are hard to stop.
 
"It is sad when people you know becomes people you knew". When you can walk right past  someone like they were never a big part of your life. How you used to be able to talk for hours and how now, you can barely even look at them.
Crying usually makes you feel better. When sadness starts to go away, it feels like a heavy blanket is being lifted from your heart Haplessness is caused by annoyance or unconcern for yourself. Sadness is nothing short of giving up on yourself. Needless to say pessimism establishes doubt which will create further hardships or sadness. Disparity reduces the ability of seeing situations as they really are. The cause of despair is the outcome of conceit, and viewing life through rose colored glasses. If despair is the outcome then it means that you are prepared to wallow in your emotional quagmire and foolishly believe that the problem you are facing will rectify itself. Sadness is a feeling everyone experiences; most teenagers go through a stage of sadness about every month. It is natural to feel sad once in a while. OUTCOME OF EMOTIONAL IMBALANCE

Hatred (or hate) is a deep and emotional extreme dislike, directed against a certain object or class of objects. The objects of such hatred can vary widely, from inanimate objects to animals, oneself or other people, entire groups of people, people in general, existence, or the whole world. Hatred is often associated with feelings of anger and disposition towards hostility against the objects of hatred. Hatred can result in extreme behavior such as violence, murder and war.

The lowest type of hate is Self-Hate. Hate for others is only a reflection of yourself. Blaming others for your follies will never rectify the problems. The more a person hates, the more self-destructive he or she becomes.
The bitterness, acrimony and loathing of yourself results in total self-destruction. The hostility attracts other negative circumstances such as revenge by those who seek the vulnerability of hateful creatures and these creatures become the victims of their own circumstance.

Hate, as a mode of guilt or of pride, generates destructive thoughts. Hate by itself is the emotional dynamic of the ability to sustain long periods of concentration and meditation. It does not require an object to focus on (it mirrors pure love in this respect); it is a general-purpose tool for cutting positive attachments, especially in relationships (for example, pride in hate mode rejects another person, whereas hate by itself rejects any pleasant attachment to the other person).

If hate is the corrective emotion then it is necessary to complete a spiritual cleansing and remove yourself from the mainstream of life for a short while until you have dominated this most vicious feeling and are ready to re-enter society. Hate produces clear thinking and strengthens a person’s will power. It supports the desire for solitude. It cools the mind and may easily be mistaken for a mild sense of peace. It is likely to be the prevailing mood when a mediator claims that they are no longer acting from a sense of ego. The skillful way of using hate is to clear the mind of redundant attachments and desires. Hate is the most powerful emotion because hate brings death. More so than any other emotion out there and death is the ultimate punishment that mankind knows of. The power of hate completely dwarfs the power of love.

ANGER: MISUNDERSTOOD EMOTION

Anger Isn’t that the emotion that wrecks relationships? Terrifies children? Provokes violence? 

Anger is not violence. It is not screaming or yelling, and it is not sarcasm. These are merely mismanaged anger-driven behaviors. Anger is really just a form of emotional energy. It’s energy oriented toward protection and survival and we have it because it has helped our species to evolve. Anger is a normal emotion that involves a strong uncomfortable and emotional response to a perceived provocation.

I’m not sure how one wills oneself to just “be happy,” but finding happiness in the smaller things in life is an important first step. Think about it, if we can be happy about the sunshine, our health, a supportive friend or family member, that can make a difference in our life today. Happiness is something we often have to start with little doses, take little steps, and find joy in the simple pleasures of life.
